Standing back after an intense session of painting and trying to work out where it’s going I can sometimes see parts of the chaos in my mind. Usually on a day where I finally tackle my fears, the what, why, when, how, but, all shower down in a deafening noise. Then I stop and I can begin to make sense of something.. sometimes.
This work in progress is perhaps another of those..
Painting in oils and coldwax. Mixed with drawing and mark making in
charcoal and pencil. Full moon was on my mind at the time of making this
painting and I was very much affected by a recent full moon at the time
of when this came work about.
This painting went to many different places as it progressed. I painted layer over layer and made marks where later I lifted them again. I spent days looking at it until I could see where it wanted to go.
Sometimes I have to destroy certain elements of a painting before I can take it any further.. I try not to overcrowd the work which can be very difficult sometimes. The painting set out so different but as it has come to near the end, the narrative has finally emerged that I was looking for. My feelings of nature and the beauty it brings.
