Here are four new paintings out of many I’ve been working on this past while. This work has taken on its own direction and I am very excited about where it is going and the process of making it. I went back to abstraction in a more expressive way through charcoal drawing and bringing thatContinue reading “New Series”
I am working on this new painting at the moment and here is a small part of the detail in close up. In its early stages it had been leaning toward a title that came to mind – The Rings Of Saturn.. and more from a sound and movement perspective. For a part of theContinue reading “The Rings Of Saturn”
So thrilled to be a part of this

I am currently working on this painting and this was an early stage where it was a few months ago. I felt at the time that it could be finished at that early stage and I didn’t want to do much more with it. I put it aside for a few weeks, which is whatContinue reading “Painting Process”
A small look at my current painting still in the making. I have two in progress at present and they seem to be playing off each other. With this painting that I am sharing here, thoughts and ideas leaning toward the full moon are starting to form. The way gravity affects the mind around thisContinue reading “Full Moon – In progress”

‘Sheep Farmer’ 70x70cm When out sketching in the open landscape today I met a sheep farmer who was walking up the hill towards where I was stood doing some sketches. He stopped to ask what I was painting and I told him I was just doing some abstracted sketches of what I’m seeing. He wonderedContinue reading “Trail Series”
This painting went to many different places as it progressed. I painted layer over layer and made marks where later I lifted them again. I spent days looking at it until I could see where it wanted to go. Sometimes I have to destroy certain elements of a painting before I can take it anyContinue reading “Abstract In Progress – Part 2”
Things that caught my eye while out hill walking in some of my favourite places yesterday and today. How light changes.. How thoughts move..
I just had to make it bigger..now it’s become both landscape and a diptych which wasn’t my intention.. What to do??!! ..I have 2 more blank canvases come to think about it…
This new painting I’ve just begun today has set out with undertones of warm earth colours. Burnt sienna and raw umber mixed across the canvas with cadmium reds and yellows. The light is mixed with lemon yellow and naples yellow and white.. This is only the first layer, the next one will change everything. WatchContinue reading “Palette”
I have just added my current new series of paintings here in Work V. This is ongoing and a new definite direction I am taking my art. I hope you enjoy!
I am the observer, less the creator.. This is where my painting is taking me right now.. It may look like an entirely different artist’s work but if you really look at it, it’s not.. I’m letting go of order and expectation. That being entirely from my own expectation and criticism within my own institution..Continue reading “Observer – Creator.. the Same”
My first art swop with fellow artist Michael Gemmell.. and Limerick School of Art and Design graduate.. I am truly honored to swop with such a talented artist who was tutored by John Shinnors and both of whom I’ve admired since discovering their work during my early years as an artist. I am completely inspiredContinue reading “Art Swop”
This was meant to be a study for a new painting but I feel it’s painted itself to a place I already.. Who knows.. In progress..
