The Humidity of and August Starty Night
I started this painting at the beginning of July 2020 with a few scribbles on this canvas and then went blank on it for weeks. Then one night in August I went all colour expressive with it, it ended up here. A closer look at this painting I finished last August 2020. I made aContinue reading “The Humidity of and August Starty Night”

Working Title – Neowise
Pieces of ‘Neowise’ coming together. Early stages ✨🙂 Here are some pieces of my current painting in progress. I was inspired to make a large scale painting back in the summer this year around comet NEOWISE which was soaring our skies at the time. I left it to breathe for the past few months asContinue reading “Working Title – Neowise”
Lush : Part 1 and 2
Every so often I revisit a painting that resonates unresolved in the back of my mind. Here is ‘Lush’ forming a conclusion of sorts. Inspired by the warm summer sensations of a mid July and the colours that it brings. Tree stumps amongst an array of beauty and colour, where the foxglove dominates for aContinue reading “Lush : Part 1 and 2”
Art Work Revisited ‘Commimication’
I’ve been revisiting this painting the past few days and as each time I looked at it, I felt it needed a different conclusion , especially because of the direction my work is going. I am more at ease with its development so I think this painting has come to a better place now… SomeContinue reading “Art Work Revisited ‘Commimication’”
New Stitches, 2007
New Stitches, 2007An oil collage on canvas in 70cm x 70cm x 4cm I’ve been clearing out and reorganising my studio space and I came across this old painting from ‘Urban Trail’ series from 2007, when I lived in Limerick city for a few years. I was surprised to see some old techniques that IContinue reading “New Stitches, 2007”
The Small Ones
The beginnings of a new work. Quick rough sketching and mark making with pencil. The drawing is an opportunity to be expressive and free. They are inspired by my walks and trails I map as I walk. I am also inspired by the rocks and boulders that I come across scattered in the landscape ofContinue reading “The Small Ones”
In the Studio
This is a small snip of today’s recording of a current work in progress. It is a diptych in 100 x 100 cm (or both at 50cm x 100cm) that I am working on. They can live either together or apart I am hoping, at the finished stage. I forget to hit record sometimes betweenContinue reading “In the Studio”

Making Space for Pink and Order
This is one of the fun parts of making the painting. One of the expressive parts for colour, as the values form from lights into darks. It’s almost like the colour is dancing along with the under drawing’s lead.

Aligning the Planets
Re-worked 2020Over the past few months looking back at this painting from 2019, the more I looked at it, the more I felt it needed refining. So I revisited it these past few strange weeks.
Re-Aligning
Detail of a ‘Aligning the Planets’ painting that I am revisiting at the moment.. For the past year I thought this painting was finished, but I’m feeling a new energy with it now. Some detail sections below. Full size 100cm x 100cm, oil and cold wax on linen
Reaction
Not to explain it all but this is somewhat the squiggles of my trail, both mapped and unmapped.
