This is from a walk up Djouce mountain I took recently, the one up behind the woods I venture out to most days. At the summit stood this giant jutting ‘gorilla-face-like’ piece of boulder. It stood in a communicative posture with it’s muscular physique of back and shoulders firmly grounded. Below in the distance, herContinue reading “Gorilla Face”
This is a recent painting where I brought some bits I’ve gathered from the forest floors while out walking. I wanted to bring the outside surroundings back to my studio for some recent paintings that I am working on. The gathering of such things like pine needles, bits of twigs, broken up pine cones andContinue reading “Last Of The Blue Moon”
Here’s a little piece of my studio floor. Some things brought inside.
Here is an example of the atmosphere and environment of where I love to spend a lot of my time. These places in nature fuel my art when I get back to the studio. Painting is a way for me to investigate and resolve my place in areas of time and space in which I occupy. The environment I am mostContinue reading “About My Painting : : 2015”
I began a new painting today working in the larger scale. I had forgotten the feeling of freedom working larger had allowed me in the past. Its hard to explain. Like my physical movements against a canvas closer to my size make me feel immersed somewhat. Working large after many years is like a new experience toContinue reading “Note To Self”
This was a series of selfportrait images titled My Ghost. I was curious about how ‘absence’ can affect the familiarity of the surrounding environment. An absence of the physical or a fading memory.
