Pushing Abstraction
My current new series is all about pushing abstraction more than I have ever done before. Responding to my surrounding landscape and being so passionate about nature, forests and the open landscape. The colours are influenced by the bright vibrant summer light that is being experienced here in Ireland lately. This is only a shortContinue reading “Pushing Abstraction”
Before The Fall
August.. The most violet of months out in the open landscape of Ireland. Mountains covered in heather of all shades of violets. It is a magical place to walk, up there in the mountains around this time of year. Those reddened violets and purples, all about to wither into golden browns and yellows and soonContinue reading “Before The Fall”

Today
Nothing but the sound of birds and the soft humid breeze here today. This was the top of one of the Wicklow mountains. Maulin, just above Crone woods. My eyes stretched so so far in all angles. I am working on a few pieces at the moment and this trip from the bottom where IContinue reading “Today”
Gorilla Face
This is from a walk up Djouce mountain I took recently, the one up behind the woods I venture out to most days. At the summit stood this giant jutting ‘gorilla-face-like’ piece of boulder. It stood in a communicative posture with it’s muscular physique of back and shoulders firmly grounded. Below in the distance, herContinue reading “Gorilla Face”

170715 : Immersed
From today. Work in progress 170715: I’m almost there with this piece. My hike the other day up Wicklow mountains, where the sky practically met the earth has influenced this in a big way. Along with yesterday’s torrential rain that fell solid and heavy on my studios thin roof as I painted. It was asContinue reading “170715 : Immersed “

Today : : 180515
Today’s location of inspiration. Taken on my iPhone, here a few clips of what excites me today. They will most likely become part of some of my next pieces. The atmosphere was stark and warm and the only sounds were of nature itself.
Footbridge :: new painting
A new little piece finished today. I think It should be titled ‘footbridge’ … Inspired by a trek in the Wicklow mountains at the back of the Djouce woods where the top of powerscourt waterfall begins. There was a footbridge.. it brought thoughts to mind.. Finding my feet and introducing myself to a new surrounding.Continue reading “Footbridge :: new painting “
Places I Go #2
Here is an example of the atmosphere and environment of where I love to spend a lot of my time. These places in nature fuel my art when I get back to the studio. I think a short video, even just from my phone captures an idea of the experience. The sounds, movements and visualContinue reading “Places I Go #2”
Part of the jigsaw
‘Heather Roots Embrace’ I came across a lot of these on my trek up Wicklow mountains recently. Not unfamiliar, but just a small piece of the jigsaw building in my current work.
