Somewhere in between a washed out season.. This painting, still a work in progress is getting me down..I hope I can solve it..
A recollection of various view points.
This is one of the places I ended up a few days ago.. Where my thoughts develop words.. And that’s the sugarloaf back there..
Two new paintings which I think are almost finished. A few mediums I used were oils on canvas, matt spectra gel, pieces from the forest floor and sand from Brittas Bay beach not too far from where I live.
I woke up this morning with a vivid image in my head of what could be my next large painting. I went for a walk in the landscape to look again at what was on my mind and in my thoughts, for this next piece. I don’t always have a mental image of what myContinue reading “Today’s Canvas”
This is just a detail section of a painting currently in progress where I’ve incorporated actual pieces of the natural surroundings I draw from onto the surface. Colours are that bit brighter in this piece and from a personal level, that is very significant.
I think I’ve finished this piece. Unfolding Autumn came to mind as I walked in the woods a few weeks ago. It was between summer and autumn painting this. Sometimes finishing a painting is a lot like saying good-bye to a part of myself.. (we were having such an interesting conversation. Come back again soon?…)Continue reading “Something Ready”
Detail of work in progress
This is a recent painting where I brought some bits I’ve gathered from the forest floors while out walking. I wanted to bring the outside surroundings back to my studio for some recent paintings that I am working on. The gathering of such things like pine needles, bits of twigs, broken up pine cones andContinue reading “Last Of The Blue Moon”
Sometimes I try to capture my thoughts by photoing them.. Most of my painting comes from these moments. Photo taken on my phone
Thinking of colours..Short clip from my camera screen of a work in progress, now finished. Titled ‘Last Of The Blue Moon’
Hiking through Djouce woods today and ended up here. Not a sole to be seen as on a normal day this place has lots of people around. It was a great experience to get the space to myself and really take it in..
Here is my Twitter for anyone who likes my work and would like to follow me there.
From yesterday’s hike up the mountains near Djouce woods with a good friend. Taken on my iPhone, this caught my eye in ways of colour, texture and surface..
From the official opening night of Signal Open 2015 at Signal Arts Centre, Bray, Co. Wicklow. Here with my recent painting titled ‘Memory Loss’. Briefly this piece, like most of my work, is my response to the landscape and how I immerse myself in it. The painting came together somewhere between the violets and rawContinue reading “Signal Open 2015 : : Open Night”
Here is a short video put together by Signal Arts Centre of all finalists including my work showing at tomorrow nights official opening of the exhibition. My paintings ‘Memory Loss’ and ‘Here One Day’ will be on show here until August 16th. http://fb.me/3kcrqbkOJ
Here’s a little piece of my studio floor. Some things brought inside.
Me with myself
And so the words floating ambiguously around my head have finally come to a conclusion. Title for this new finished piece, ‘6th Floor’. This piece took a long time to come together. It started out so differently and to a point where I ended up with such dissatisfaction, that I painted over it andContinue reading “310715”
